Live patient flow for Open Dental

Know where every patient is, without leaving the chair.

VisitPing turns the appointment statuses your team already sets in Open Dental into a live Office Board, a tablet in every op, and a doctor queue on any phone. It runs on your own server and only ever reads.

No card for the trial Read-only to Open Dental Patient data stays in your office

The VisitPing Office Board: columns for On my way, Arrived and Ready to go back with color-coded patient cards and wait timers, plus a list of ops on the right.

  • Reads Open Dental, never writes
  • Runs on your server
  • Any TV, tablet, phone or PC
  • Updates every few seconds

Three screens, one source of truth

Everyone sees the same picture, from the front desk to the doctor's pocket.

Your team keeps working in Open Dental. VisitPing watches the status changes and shows each role what it needs to see.

Office Board

The whole office at a glance

Check-in columns follow your own Appt Confirmed statuses, and every op shows who's in it, colored by doctor.

  • Cards glow, then flash, as patients wait past their time
  • "Expected soon" shows who's due and who's running late
  • Built for a wall TV and readable across the room
Op tablet

Call the doctor with one tap

A tablet in each op with big buttons like Ready for exam, Needs numbing or X-ray review. Needs help now jumps to the top of the doctor's list.

Op tablet screen for Hyg 2 showing a Ready for exam request with a 3 minute wait, and buttons for other requests.
Doctor screen

A queue that sorts itself

Each doctor sees the ops that need them, longest wait first, and taps On my way so the op knows they're coming.

Doctor screen listing Op 1 Needs help now marked urgent, Hyg 2 Ready for exam and Hyg 1 X-ray review with wait times.

The details that matter at 10:40 on a Tuesday

Small signals that prevent big delays.

Timers that escalate

Every card counts up from its appointment time. Past it, the outline pulses slow, then faster, then the whole card flashes at 15 minutes. You set the thresholds.

Family pill

Family members, including super families, booked at the same time get a Family tag, so siblings and parents are seated together.

Premed flag

Patients who need premedication are marked right on the card, before they go back.

Two-room warning

If a patient is marked in two ops at once, both ops show ⚠ Also marked in… so the mix-up gets fixed in seconds.

Pop-ups and notifications

Doctor requests show as pop-ups with sound, and as notifications on phones and computers. Notifications never include patient names.

Easy to open anywhere

Screens open at visitping.local on the office network and install like an app on Windows, iPhone, iPad and Android.

Light and dark

Follows each device's light or dark setting, with an override per screen for dim ops and bright lobbies.

Fits your workflow

Choose which statuses become columns, which ops exist, which buttons the op tablets show and how long requests stay up.

Guided setup

A step-by-step setup guide checks off each item as you go, from the database connection to pairing the first tablet.

Privacy by design

Your patients' data never leaves your building.

VisitPing installs on the Windows server that already runs Open Dental. There's no cloud copy of your schedule and nothing for us to lose.

  • Audit log and protected secretsEvery settings change is logged, and stored passwords are encrypted with Windows' built-in protection.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does VisitPing change anything in Open Dental?

No. It connects with a read-only MySQL user and only reads appointments, statuses and providers. Your team keeps setting statuses in Open Dental exactly as they do today.

Do we need new hardware?

No. VisitPing runs on the server that already hosts Open Dental. Any TV with a browser or a small PC, any tablet, and any phone can be a screen.

Is patient information sent to the cloud?

No. Everything runs in your office and screens connect to your server over your network. The only thing that leaves is a license check with a random Install ID, which you can turn off. Phone notifications say which op needs the doctor, never the patient's name.

Is VisitPing HIPAA compliant?

VisitPing is built for HIPAA-covered offices: patient data stays on your server, connections are encrypted, sign-in is required, and changes are logged. Because we never receive patient data, it sits inside your existing HIPAA safeguards for the server and screens rather than adding a new vendor that stores PHI.

What happens when the trial ends?

Buy from Settings › License and the license installs itself. If you don't, the screens pause after the trial, while Settings stays open so you can buy any time. Nothing in Open Dental is affected.

Can we cancel?

Yes, any time from the billing portal. Your screens keep working through the end of the period you paid for, plus a short grace period.
